"Forest are the air-conditioning of our planet and we are on the verge of switching it off"-Prince Charles
Pollution results in global warming and not only pollution but decrease in the size of forest as time passes by also results in many other severe effects like soil erosion, unclean ground water etc. So,there arises a need for afforestation but before that you need to know its advantages.
1)Prevents Soil Erosion
Soil Erosion can be prevented if afforestation is promoted. If there will be more trees then their roots will grab the soil and will hold the soil at its place more strongly which will result in reduction of soil erosion.
2)Increases Rain
Rain could be increased if we plant more trees.More are the trees, more will be the rain.As plants takes water from ground and release it in atmosphere and increase in amount of water in atmosphere will result in rain and this rain water could be used for many other purposes and also ground water level will be increased.
Afforestation prevents desertification i.e increase in number of desert could be controlled. If there are no trees then the desert which can grow by riding air and there size will significantly increase but if trees will be present then they can stop air helping the desert to increase it's size.
4)Controls Flood
Afforestation can also help to control flood. As the water goes and trees decrease the speed of water that may reach cities and can cause mass destruction but when trees comes in it's way the flow speed is decreased and destruction is avoided.
5)Helps In Restoring Forest
Afforestation also helps in restoring forest which are ultimately the heart of our planet. And with increase in forest our wildlife also gets good chances of growing and the chances of man-animal conflict also decreases.
